DISC BRAKES & DRUM BRAKES

Do you own a small trailer, box trailer, boat trailer or maybe a small camper trailer rated from 750 Kgs up to 1250kgs. Currently doesn't have brakes fitted, well mechanical / cable override disc brakes or if you were wanting a drum brake, mechanical / cable override drum brakes are for low rating trailers, campers etc, so they would be good to upgrade to if you were wanting a disc or a small drum brake installed to your low rated Trailer, Camper Trailer Etc.

With a rating of 1250kgs and over you would be going to a electric drum brake. Pending on what they were going on and being used for, carrying low weight or carrying heavy weight you can choose from a 10" or 12" electric brake drum, standard or off-road. 1250Kgs up to about 2000Kgs / 2 Tonnes max of 2500Kgs / 2.5 Tonnes you would be using 10" brake drums, anything over 2000Kgs / 2 Tonnes you would be going to a 12" brake drums. which is around 2000Kgs / 2 Tonnes up to around 3500Kgs / 3.5 Tonnes, max of around 4000Kgs / 4 Tonnes.

MECHANICAL / OVERRIDE DISC BRAKE INSTALLATION

Mechanical / Override Disc Brakes - A brake system that is activated by a sliding motion trailer coupling. When the brakes are activated on the towing vehicle, the trailer coupling in a sliding forward motion pulls on a brake cable, activating 10" disc brakes. Having a handbrake leaver attached to the trailer coupling, by using the same brake cable as the one that activates the brakes, gives you a handbrake.

This type of braking system is great for small trailers and camper trailers rated 750 Kgs up to 1250 Kgs. Those with trailers and camper trailers with a decent built strongly made frame and large axles and leaf springs fitted, that is capable of carrying just a little bit more weight, you can upgrade to a 12" disc brake, giving you a little more braking power, other than going to a drum brake.
